87-year old will release the record on March 15

Actor Christopher Lee is set to release a ‘symphonic metal album’, and you can see a video of him talking about the record below.

Entitled ‘Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross’, the 87-year old actor, who has featured in films such as Dracula, Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars, will release the album on March 15.

“It’s fascinating for me that at this stage in my life, people are beginning to look upon me as a metal singer.” Lee explained in a video you can watch below.

He described the album as “Symphonic metal… And none the less metal”, adding: “There seems to be another string to my bow. Now we shall wait and see. My belief is that in March, when this comes out as a complete album, it’s going to be sensational.”

The concept record tells the story of King Charlemagne, the First Holy Roman Emperor, who reigned in the eighth and ninth century.

Lee claims he is of direct lineage to Charlemagne and says he has decided to record the album in his honour.
