‘Britain’s Got Talent”s Susan Boyle set for biggest-selling album of 2009

'I Dreamed A Dream' tops sales chart just four weeks after release

Susan Boyle‘s debut album ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ looks set to be the biggest-selling album of the year, according to figures published by The Official Charts Company.

Despite only going on sale four weeks ago, ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ has so far sold in excess of 1.4 million copies in the UK, beating the likes of Lady Gaga and Kings Of Leon to the title.

Martin Talbot, managing director of The Official Charts Company, hailed Boyle‘s success, declaring: “In just four weeks, Susan Boyle has become the biggest album artist in the UK by some margin – an extraordinary achievement for an artist who was totally unknown until last April.”

The five biggest-selling UK albums of the year (with weeks on sale in brackets) so far are currently:

1. Susan Boyle – ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ (4)
2. Lady Gaga – ‘The Fame’ (49)
3. Kings Of Leon – ‘Only By The Night’ (65)
4. Michael Bublé – ‘Crazy Love’ (9)
5. The Black Eyed Peas – ‘The END’ (28)
