Beloved sci-fi sitcom is getting another revival

Red Dwarf will return for a new series, it has been confirmed.

Speculation had been rife about a new series of the cult sci-fi sitcom ever since it was revived for the one-off series Back To Earth episodes in 2009.

Now, according to Wired.co.uk, series co-creator Doug Naylor has confirmed that a tenth run is definitely happening. Production is expected to begin in November.

Details about the new series of Red Dwarf are still sketchy, although as was the case with Back To Earth, the new six episodes will be produced by and air on freeview channel Dave.

Principle cast members Craig Charles (Lister), Chris Barrie (Rimmer), Danny John-Jules (Cat) and Robert Llewellyn have all signed up to return.

Red Dwarf originally ran on BBC 2 from 1988 to 1999.
