Police say DJ was killed in botched robbery

Two men have been charged with the murder of Corey McGriff, known professionally as DJ Megatron.

The DJ and TV personality, who was 32 when he died, was shot dead on March 27 near his home on Staten Island, New York.

According to Rolling Stone, police have said that William Williams, 21, and Richard Crowmell, 20, killed McGriff after attempting a robbery.

Police have added that the men did not realise who their victim was until news about the shooting circulated the next day.

They have both been charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon and attempted robbery. They are expected to be arraigned in the next few days.
