Fans and bands gather outside Broadcasting House to try and save the station

An official protest has been staged in London today (March 27) in a bid to help save BBC 6 Music.

Up to 2,000 people attended the event outside Broadcasting House, with presenter Liz Kershaw kicking things off with a speech about how the BBC Trust could still save the station from being axed next year, reports Radio Today

The Brute Chorus, Allo Darlin’ and Mirrorkicks later entertained the crowd during the 90-minute event.

Thousands of BBC 6 Music fans have signed petitions to try and save the station from being axed, with musicians including David Bowie also showing their support.
