‘Up’ and ‘Crazy Heart’ soundtracks win Golden Globe awards

Paul McCartney and U2 lose out in annual ceremony

Composer Michael Giacchino was awarded the Golden Globe award in the Best Original Score – Motion Picture category yesterday (January 17) for his score for the film Up.

In the Best Original Song – Motion Picture category Crazy Heart‘s lead song ‘The Weary Kind (Theme From Crazy Heart)’, composed by Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett, was victorious. U2 (for the Brothers song ‘Winter’) and Paul McCartney (for Everybody’s Fine‘s ‘(I Want To) Come Home’) were nominated.

Other full film scores nominated were those for Avatar, Where The Wild Things Are (by Yeah Yeah YeahsKaren O), The Informant! and A Single Man.

The ceremony took place in Los Angeles at the Staples Center venue. At the event George Clooney revealed that he’d signed up U2’s Bono, Alicia Keys and Justin Timberlake to play a benefit gig for victims of the recent Haiti earthquake, set to take place on January 22.
