The ceremony will take place in Los Angeles once again
The 52nd annual Grammy Awards will take place on January 31, 2010 in Los Angeles, it was announced today (March 12).
The ceremony has been moved up from its usual February date to the end of January, which means that Grammy eligibility will be shortened by one month. The eligibility period is now from October 1, 2008 – August 31, 2009.
The event will take place at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, as it has for the past several years.
“We are delighted to host the world’s premier music event in our hometown again, especially with the newly-opened Grammy Museum in our backyard,” Recording Academy President Neil Portnow said in a statement. “As always, Grammy week will kick off with events that showcase various genres of music, educational programs and charitable initiatives.”
The ceremony will be broadcast in the US on CBS television that evening at 8:00pm ET/PT.
