NASA launch album in LA with star-studded record-release party

DJ Squeak E Clean is joined on stage by aliens

NASA (North America/South America) held a star-studded record-release party at Cinespace in Los Angeles last night (January 27) to celebrate the completion of their debut album, ‘The Spirit Of Apollo’, which was nearly six years in the making.

Celebrities and album collaborators including RZA, will.i.am. and Fatlip came out to celebrate and see DJ Squeak E Clean (aka Sam Spiegel), one half of the NASA duo, spin tunes and debut videos from the album.

‘The Spirit Of Apollo’, which is due out in the US on February 17, features guest spots from artists including Kanye West, MIA, Tom Waits, RZA, Santogold, Lykke Li and David Byrne.

When asked how it feels to have completed the record, Spiegel told NME.COM, “It feels amazing and really liberating. It feels like it’s a new phase in my life. I’m ready to tour the world and meet lots of people and have fun. It sounds really exciting to me, especially because I’ve never been on a tour before.”

Spiegel was joined on stage by female dancers covered in green paint and silver bodysuits, as well as people dressed as giant aliens.

NASA‘s tour is set to kick off on February 26 in San Diego and will conclude on March 14 in Washington DC, as previously reported.
