US publicist resigns following sexual harassment claims by Best Coast, Dirty Projectors members

Heathcliff Berru worked for Life Or Death PR

A music publicist in America has resigned from his position after being accused of sexual harassment by a number of artists and fellow industry professionals.

Heathcliff Berru was CEO of Life Or Death PR, a company which represents D’Angelo, Odd Future, DIIV, Speedy Ortiz, Wavves and Cloud Nothings among others.

On Monday night (December 18), Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors claimed that a high profile publicist “Rubbed my ass and bit my hair at a bar a couple years ago,” before going on to name the man as Berru.

Several other women soon followed with their own allegations against Berru, including Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino (pictured above), who tweeted, “I was too freaked out to ever say anything. Seriously he’s not a good person on any level.”

Since then, Kelela, Wavves and DIIV have tweeted to confirm the end of their working relationship with Life Or Death PR. Meanwhile, the company confirmed that Berru had resigned from his position. “Life or Death has a zero tolerance policy for the type of conduct alleged in today’s on-line postings,” reads part of a statement issued by the company. “We take these allegations very seriously.”

Berru has also released a personal statement regarding the allegations, apologising to “those who I have offended by my actions” and revealing that he will be checking himself into a drug and alcohol rehab facility. The full statement can be read at LA Weekly.
