BRIT Award nominations coming today (Jan 14)

Nominations for the 2008 BRIT Awards are set to be announced this evening (January 14).

Bands and fans will find out who will be contesting a host of awards – including Best Band, Best Album and a series of international prizes – at the ceremony next month.

The announcements will be made in a preview event held tonight at the Roundhouse in north London.

NME.COM will have full details of this year’s nominations as soon as they’re announced, due to be around 6.45pm.

The likes of Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Klaxons, Kate Nash, Girls Aloud, Editors and Amy Winehouse among the favourites to be nominated.

It is already confirmed that Sir Paul McCartney will accept a special Outstanding Contribution To Music award this year, while Adele will be given the new Critics Choice prize, which saw members of the academy vote for the artist they thought was most likely to make it 2008.

The BRIT Awards themselves will be held on February 20 at Earls Court, with Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne hosting.
