‘Vulgar’ band name provokes outrage at Basildon school

The controversial name was displayed outside a pub near a school

A poster advertising a gig by singing act Kunt And The Gang has caused uproar in Basildon.

The Jolly Friar pub had a window poster on display advertising the local act, causing staff at the local Whitmore Junior School to complain, arguing that pupils may see the swear word and therefore believe it is OK to use the word in school.

A parent of a child who attends the school, who chose to remain anonymous, said, “I think it’s totally irresponsible to put up a poster with that word where children will see it.”

The South Wales Echo newspaper raised the issue with the pub, prompting the poster to be removed.

Kunt from the aforementioned band told the paper: “I don’t really see what all the fuss is about. It’s not as though it’s even a proper swear word. Please don’t put me in the Echo. My mum thinks I work at KFC in the evenings.”
