France’s first lady tops French charts

Carla Bruni knocks Coldplay off top spot

France’s first lady Carla Bruni has knocked Coldplay off the top of the French pop charts, it was announced today (July 25).

Bruni‘s new album ‘Comme si de rien n’etait’ (‘As If Nothing Had Happened’), has been highly publicised and scrutinised since it hit shelves on July 11.

The SNEP, an industry group that tracks record sales in France, did not disclose the number of copies Bruni‘s album sold, but confirmed that it replaced Coldplay‘s ‘Viva La Vida’ as France’s Number One album in its first full week of sales, reports Reuters.

The former model recently married French President Nicolas Sarkozy and has been romantically linked to Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton.
