Fans injured at free X Factor concert

Minor crowd crush at JLS gig

Several fans were injured during a gig by X Factor finalists JLS earlier this week (December 9).

Five teenage girls were hurt at the free show at Fairfield Halls in Croydon as crowds pushed forward to see the band.

“We treated five patients. They were all teenage girls. Four of them were taken to Mayday Hospital in south London,” a spokesperson told BBC News. “There was one with a hand injury, one with difficulty in breathing and two who were also just taken unwell. The fifth was treated at the scene.”

Meanwhile, JLS – which stands for Jack The Lad Swing – take on Eoghan Quigg and Alexandra Burke in this weekend’s (December 13) X Factor final on ITV1.

Whoever wins will release a cover of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’, which is expected to clinch this year’s Christmas Number One spot.

However, fans of the song have objected to the proposed cover and are urging fans to buy versions by Jeff Buckley and Cohen himself instead.
