Rescue dogs delivering phone chargers to festival-goers at SXSW

The scheme is a joint venture between St. Bernard Rescue Foundation and the Mophie portable charger company

Rescue dogs are being used to deliver portable mobile phone chargers to festival-goers at this year’s South By Southwest music showcase in Austin, Texas.

The scheme is a joint venture between St. Bernard Rescue Foundation and the Mophie portable charger company. It works by punters tweeting their location to the @Mophie Twitter account, which will then lead to a dog and handler coming to their ‘rescue’ with an external battery supply.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Mophie to help raise awareness and hopefully find safe and loving homes for these dogs,” Olive Ashwell, St Bernard’s marketing manager, said of the project. “There’s a shared sense of passion between both our organizations as this amazing partnership launches at SXSW.”
