Premiership footballers set to release pop single

Find out who the new Hoddle and Waddle are

Chelsea football players Didier Drogba and Michael Essien have lent their vocals to an anti-racism single.

The blues’ pair sing backing vocals on Wills And The Willing‘s track ’Skin’, which is released on Monday (October 22) to coincide with ’Let’s Kick Racism Out Of Football Week’.

“It’s about showing positivity,” Essien told NME.COM. “I decided to do it because of playing in France and hearing about the problems there, it made me feel bad.”

He then called on everyone to get involved in tackling racism.

“It’s not about football, it’s about society,” declared the midfielder. “It’s a cancer, we’ve got to cut it out.”

A performance of the song is planned to take place at Madame JoJo’s in London on November 7.

The musical move sees the Chelsea pair following in the footsteps of many club and international sides who have released singles around tournaments, most notably Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle, who released single ‘Diamond Lights’ as a pop duo in 1987.
