Celebrity interviewer Nardwuar discharged from hospital following stroke

Canadian journalist, 47, fell ill last weekend

Famed celebrity interviewer and music journalist Nardwuar has been released from hospital after he suffered a stroke last weekend.

The initial news of Nardwuar’s ill health was confirmed by his official Twitter page on Wednesday (December 9), with a message reading: “Saturday night @Nardwuar suffered a stroke [at] Mint Party. He is recovering [at Vancouver General Hospital] More [to] come.”

Now Nardwuar has uploaded a photo of himself sat in a hospital bed, along with the message: “Discharged @nardwuar from VGH Stroke Unit today. Outlook surgery in Feb. Thanks for all the support & Tweets & Messages!”

Nardwuar (real name John Ruskin) is known for his flamboyant dress sense and eccentric interview style, in which he often brings gifts relating to the musician’s past.

Nardwuar – who goes by the stage name Nardwuar the Human Serviette – has interviewed everyone from Nirvana and Blur to Jay Z and Drake.

Following news of his stroke, a host of artists, many who have been interviewed by Nardwuar in the past, offered their support via social media.

Pharrell Williams wrote: “Wishing you a speedy recovery. We need more of your inspiring colourful interviews”.

Alt-J , meanwhile, posted the following message to Twitter: “Our thoughts are with @nardwuar right now. A man amongst men.”
