Midweek chart update: Josh Groban set for first Number One album

New entries also come from Alabama Shakes, Passenger, Amber Run and Stacey Solomon

Josh Groban is set to be Number One in the Official UK Album Chart this week with his new album ‘Stages’ leading the sales figures at today’s midweek stage.

Groban released his seventh album on Monday (April 20). The album sees him tackle 15 theatre and film standards. Official Chart Company data reveals that the album is ahead of nearest rival Paul Simon and looks likely to beat his own previous UK chart peak, 2013’s ‘All That Echoes’, which peaked at Number Nine.

Also new in the Top 10 at today’s midweek point is ‘Sound & Colour’, the new album from Alabama Shakes (pictured right). The US based band are Number Three today.

Other new entries in this week’s Official Album Chart at today’s midweek stage include Passenger (7), Amber Run (19), As It Is (28), Stacey Solomon (31) and FM (35)

Meanwhile, in the Official UK Singles Chart, Wiz Khalifa is on course to stay on the top spot with his single ‘See You Again’, as featured on the soundtrack to The Fast & Furious 7.

The full chart rundown is announced on BBC Radio 1 this Sunday (April 26).
