Rapper Lil Boosie says he has been diagnosed with kidney cancer

Hip-hop star asked fans to pray for his recovery

US rapper Lil Boosie has announced that he has been diagnosed with kidney cancer, reports claim.

The Louisiana hip-hop star – who also goes by the name Boosie Badazz – is best known for his 2008 hit ‘Independent’ with Webbie and Lil Phat. His latest releases include May’s ‘Touch Down 2 Cause Hell’ album and the ‘Life After Deathrow’ mixtape, released in 2014.

Now, TMZ reports that Boosie has confirmed via a since-deleted Instagram post that he has cancer. Boosie is alleged to have written: “I need all my fans to pray for me Doctor just told me I have cancer on my kidneys prayer is power that’s why I’m letting the world know prayfaboosie.”

Boosie has not issued a statement since deleting his initial message but a representative of his label Atlantic Records has confirmed to Noisey that the news is true.

The rapper, who is 33, also suffers from diabetes.

Boosie was released from prison last year after serving a five year sentence for drug charges.
