‘Metal horns’ emoji now available on phones following latest Apple iOS update

New emojis introduced in latest update

Apple has introduced a number of new emojis with its latest iOS update, including the ‘metal horn’ emoji.

The iOS 9.1 update is now available for iPhones, with an Android version coming soon.

The heavy metal horn salute is formed by extending the index and little fingers while holding the middle and ring fingers down with the thumb.

It was popularised by singer Ronnie James Dio, who began adopting the salute shortly after replacing Ozzy Osbourne as the singer of Black Sabbath in 1979.

Along with the ‘metal horn’ emoji, other new icons include the ‘middle finger’, a hotdog and more.

To install the update, users must go to Settings > General > Software Update. Phones must be connected to Wifi to install.
