Demi Lovato on nude photoshoot: ‘I don’t give a fuck, this is who I am’

Singer recently posed makeup-free for 'Vanity Fair' magazine

Pop star Demi Lovato has explained that she decided to pose nude and makeup-free for a photoshoot with Vanity Fair because she wanted to reflect her new album’s title, ‘Confident’, and encourage others to be “real, liberated and free”.

Lovato recently posed for the US magazine, making headlines with the shoot. Explaining her decision, the former Disney star said that the death of her great-grandfather – who passed away the day prior – had an impact.

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the past day, it’s that life is too short,” Lovato said. “I’m about to launch an album that finally represents who I truly am. How do I embrace this new chapter in my life? How do I really walk the walk? What does it mean to be confident? It means letting go, being authentic, saying I don’t give a fuck and this is who I am.”

She added: “I want to show the side of me that’s real, that’s liberated, that’s free. What if we do a photo shoot where it’s totally raw? Super-sexy, but no makeup, no fancy lighting, no retouching, and no clothing. Let’s do it here, let’s do it now.”

“The album is called ‘Confident,'” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I wanted something that was going to best represent the album title, where I’m at today and the music. I’ve never been more confident in my life and it was the perfect album title.”

Lovato recently made headlines when she said that mugs were her “favourite dish” and mistook inherited genes for “hand-me-down clothing”.
