Sia shares new single originally written for Adele – hear ‘Alive’ now

First single from new album 'This Is Acting' revealed

Sia has revealed her new single ‘Alive’, a song originally written for Adele.

The song is taken from Sia’s upcoming album ‘This Is Acting’, an album so called as it is filled with songs Sia originally wrote for other artists before deciding to keep them for herself. As a result, the songs are not written from a personal perspective but with others in mind. Both Adele and Tobias Jesso Jr are credited as co-writers on ‘Alive’.

“It’s about Adele’s life, so I now sing a song from Adele’s perspective,” Sia recently said of the track.

“This is the first song from this new project. I’m calling it ‘This Is Acting’ because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go into it thinking, ‘This is something I would say’. It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”

Sia first confirmed the name of her next album in an interview with NME earlier this year as well as opening up about what led her to retiring from living life in the public eye.

She also said that she is finding it increasingly difficult to maintain her policy of not playing live, admitting that at some point she may embark on a tour.

Sia has written songs for Beyoncé, Eminem and Rihanna among many others in recent years while ‘Wolves’, her collaboration with Kanye West, was revealed earlier this month during New York Fashion Week.

‘This Is Acting’ will be the follow up to Sia’s 2014 album ‘1000 Forms Of Fear’, an album which featured the singles ‘Elastic Heart’ and ‘Chandelier’.
