Singer’s solo album on the way too
Velvet Revolver have announced details of their second album, the follow up to 2004’s ’Contraband’.
The as yet untitled album was produced by Pearl Jam producer Brendan O’Brien.
Singer Scott Weiland said that the producer brought inspiration back to the band.
He said: “There was a definite loss of inspiration for a bit there. It has a lot to do with chemistry. Once Brendan came on board, I guess it was kind of like a shot in the arm. It was a new energy.”
Weiland also denied previous reports that the album would be a concept. He said: “(We’ve) thrown that idea out the window. In my opinion, there are so many schlock concept albums that have come out in the past year.”
The singer has also been working on his second solo album, the follow up to 1998’s ’12 Bar Blues’.
The album, which is process of being recorded, features a collaboration with producer Daniel Lanois and Pharrell Williams on the song ’Happy’. Weiland told Billboard the he is looking at a late 2007 or early 2008 release date for the album.
