The band were performing in Vile's hometown of Philadelphia last night
The New Jersey band are currently on the road in support of their latest album ‘There’s A Riot Going On‘. The record is their 15th in their 34-year career, and follows 2016’s Murder In The Second Degree’.
The group performed in Vile’s hometown of Philadelphia last night, where they played two sets. Vile joined them at the end of the first as they dropped their version of The Cure’s ‘Friday I’m In Love’. Yo La Tengo originally recorded the song for their 2015 covers album ‘Stuff Like That There‘.
Vile also accompanied the band on their own recent song ‘Here You Are’. Watch fan-shot footage of the performance above.
The Philadelphia musician recently collaborated with Courtney Barnett on a joint album, ‘Lotta Sea Lice‘. Most of the tracks on the record are originals penned by the pair, but it also features some covers. These included versions of Belly’s ‘Untogether’ and Jen Cloher’s ‘Fear Is Like A Forest’. Barnett also recorded a version of Vile’s own ‘Peeping Tomboy’.
Vile released his latest solo album ‘B’lieve I’m Goin Down…‘ in 2015. It charted at Number 25 in the Official UK Albums Chart – his highest solo chart position in the country so far.
