There's a few surprises on there
Noel Gallagher has joined up with Man City defender John Stones to create a playlist together.
The Manchester musician is, famously, a big fan of the Sky Blues. Oasis‘ first ever stadium show was at the club’s old ground of Maine Road in 1996.
Gallagher and Stones met up as part of the FIFA Matchups series, and discussed the music taste of the Man City dressing room as they built the playlist.
The pair selected two Oasis tracks for the list, including ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’. After Stones said the team “always walk in” to the former, Gallagher said: “Would you not prefer ‘Rock And Roll Star’? ‘Wonderwall”s a bit ‘end of the night, my bird’s left me’ and all that kind of thing. It doesn’t strike me as something you play before the derby.”
They also selected Big Shaq‘s ‘Man’s Not Hot’, Ed Sheeran‘s ‘Sing’, Gallagher’s own ‘Fort Knox’, and Lionel Richie‘s ‘All Night Long’. Stones also revealed that Man City boss Pep Guardiola is also a fan of Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber‘s ‘Despacito’, much to Gallagher’s surprise.
Gallagher recently said he would love to play some shows with Big Shaq. Speaking on the BRITs red carpet, the viral grime star responded to his comments, saying: ““Noel Gallagher, he’s a legend,” Shaq told NME. “One legend’s approval of what you’re doing is nice – but you know, let’s wait and see what’s going to happen.”
Asked about the likelihood of the pair working together, he replied: “Who knows? Who bloody knows mate?”
As well as singing a cover of ‘Wonderwall’ and telling anyone unfamiliar with the song to ‘re-evaluate their life’, he ended on a message for Noel. “Noel, big up yourself man – continue smashing it.”
