Weezer announce ‘Weezer Cruise’ festival

Band set to take to the seas for 'Caribbean Festival'

Weezer have announced that they will sell tickets for a ‘Weezer Cruise’, sailing from Miami to Mexico, playing gigs aboard the ship.

The cruise will also feature Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, Gene Ween, Yuck, Wavves, the Antlers and Free Energy.

According to Rolling Stone, “The bands will perform on four stages located around the ship, with Weezer scheduled to play on the pool deck as the cruise departs and again at the ship’s indoor theater.”

The idea of a ‘Festival Cruise’ has become quite popular with acts including Loudon Wainwright III, Richard Thomas and Steve Earle all trying out the new approach to gigging.

Prices for the cruise start at $799 (£501) per person for a double cabin. While groups of four will be able to attend for $599 (£375) each.

Weezer have also recently announced ‘side-by-side’ gigs with The Flaming Lips. The idea being that the bands will share a stage and play alternate songs.

Weezer recently played T in the Park and are currently writing new material.
