Weezer has finally covered Toto’s ‘Africa’ after trolling their fans….

BLESS THE RAINS!

Weezer have finally covered Toto‘s ‘Africa’, after weeks of endlessly trolling their fans.

Earlier this year, a dedicated Twitter account named @WeezerAfrica began an epic campaign to request that Weezer cover Toto’s karaoke classic ‘Africa’.

And last week, it seemed that the band had finally responded to the account, before it was realised that they had only fulfilled half of the fan’s request.

Instead of covering the 1982 hit ‘Africa’ as requested, Rivers Cuomo instead covered Toto’s ‘Roseanna’, which won the 1983 Grammy Award for Record of the Year.

But it seems that good things come to those who wait – the band have finally released their own cover of Africa.

The band’s unique take on the track was posted on YouTube earlier today, and it’s largely faithful to the spirit of the original.

Responding on Twitter, @WeezerAfrica wrote: “Looks like @Weezer finally blessed the rains…”

Last year, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo spoke to NME where he discussed, among other things, his unlikely friendship with Post Malone.

“I’d love to work with him. In fact, I think we are fans of each other’s music. He invited me over to his house and studio on the East Side of LA to play me some of his new stuff”, he said.

“He’s just a great presence to be around. He’s so positive and beaming with creativity. He’s in a great zone right now. We were just hanging out and listening to the music, but I’d absolutely be open to working together.”
