Wings collaborator Sir Clement Freud dies

Freud performed a monologue on 'Band On The Run'

Sir Clement Freud, the former politician and broadcaster who appeared on the sleeve of Wings‘ 1973 album ‘Band On The Run’, has died.

Sir Clement, grandson of famed psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud died yesterday (April 15) in his London home aged 84, reports BBC News.

As well as appearing on the ‘Band On The Run’ sleeve he performed a small monologue on the album.

Sir Clement was an author, journalist, and once ran his own London restaurant. In the ’70s and ’80s he pursued a career in politics, holding the post of Liberal Member of Parliament representing the Isle Of Ely. He was also a much celebrated panelist on BBC Radio 4‘s ‘Just A Minute’.

Among those paying tribute was Stephen Fry who posted his thoughts via Twitter, declaring: “Mrs Death is cutting another of her dreadful swathes… now dear old Clement Freud, whom I shall miss dreadfully.”

Sir Clement is survived by his wife and five children.
