Police are looking for a male suspect who is believed to be in his 20s and have asked people who attended the gig to provide photographs or videos that might prove helpful in their investigation. It is not yet known how the gun made it into the venue as concert-goers must undergo security checks upon entrance.

Wiz Khalifa – real name Cameron Thomaz – was due to perform last night (August 23) in Chula Vista, California but confirmed the cancelation of the show on Twitter hours before the performance.

“Due to a situation out of our control, tonight’s UTIOM show is cancelled,” he tweeted. “This was a senseless tragedy. Violence is never the answer. My prayers go out to the victim’s family.”

In May, Khalifa was arrested for drugs possession. He was released him on a bond of $300 (£178) but not before posting a ‘jail selfie’ on Instagram from inside his cell.
