The xx are taking Night + Day to Spain

The band have announced the next location for their own festival

The xx have announced the next edition of Night + Day.

The band started hosting the event in 2013, holding three one-day bashes in London, Berlin, and Lisbon. They headline each edition, but invite friends and other artists they admire to appear on the bill too.

The latest Night + Day has been confirmed to take place at Bilbao BBK festival in Spain between July 6-11. Over the week, fans can experience a line-up of film, music, radio, and parties all curated by The xx. Jamie xx will also host a party at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, where special guest DJs and bands will perform.

The xx took Night + Day to London’s O2 Academy Brixton last March for eight dates to celebrate their third album ‘I See You’. During the run, they were joined by the likes of Robyn, Sampha, Kelela, Francis + The Lights, Cat Power, Savages‘ Jehnny Beth, and more.

Last year, the trio released a mini tour documentary that celebrated the band’s close relationship with their fanbase.

Directed by filmmaker Sylvie Weber, We See You Berlin featured never-before-seen footage of The xx on tour, interviews, live footage, and “intimate portraits” of the crowd at their headline performance at the Berlin leg of Lollapalooza in 2017.

In an interview with Australia’s The Courier, singer and guitarist Romy Madley Croft revealed that the band are planning to release some more upbeat tunes in the future. ““We’ve got plans to release our techno tunes,” she said. “We’ve loved having more upbeat music in our set. We’ve remixed ourselves, there’s some older songs that we now play at 120 bpm.”
