Yeah Yeah Yeahs turn London audience into guest vocalists

Karen O gets the front row at O2 Academy Brixton working

Yeah Yeah Yeahs recruited the entire front row of their O2 Academy Brixton gig as guests vocalists last night (November 30).

The trio, who are currently on their UK tour, made use of the London audience as frontwoman Karen O dived into the pit during ‘Cheated Hearts’.

Starting at one end, she got one of the crowd to sing the song’s “ooh-ooh” refrain, before spending the next couple of minutes making her way across the venue one person at a time.

The gigantic guest spot, followed a particularly frenetic gig, which started with the band performing half of ‘Runaway’ from behind her curtain before it dropped mid-song to reveal the band and O sporting a golden headdress.

‘Gold Lion’ saw the band lowering three giant Ys onto the stage, while during ‘Skeletons’, O boasted a second, eerie headdress made out of hands, while the stage was showered in green confetti.

Returning for an encore, an acoustic version of ‘Maps’ trigged a loud sing-a-long before the band wrapped things up with ‘Date With The Night’.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs played:

‘Shake It’
‘Black Tongue’
‘Gold Lion’
‘Miles Away’
‘Soft Shock’
‘Cheated Hearts’
‘Heads Will Roll’
‘Y Control’
‘Art Star’
‘Date With The Night’
