Green Day man and Common also celebrate Converse's anniversary

MIA, Yeah Yeah YeahsKaren O and Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong are among the high-profile musicians appearing in a new advertising campaign for shoes.

Common, Joan Jett and the likenesses of Joy Division‘s Ian Curtis and The Sex Pistol’s Sid Vicious will also appear in Converse‘s forthcoming “Connectivity” campaign, which celebrates the American shoemaker’s 100-year anniversary.

The campaign aims to “visually connect” past and present Converse icons, reports Pitchfork.

The style of Converse shoes known as “Chuck Taylors” or “Chucks” has long been popular with the indie rock set.
