Oxford-based band play Heaven venue

Young Knives played a London show last night (September 24) – with the setlist chosen by their fans.

The Oxford-based trio were playing as part of a series of gigs to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the formation of the record label, Transgressive, at the Heaven venue. They had previously asked fans to vote for which songs they would like to hear in the set.

As well as regulars ‘She’s Attracted To’ and ‘Terra Firma’, devotees also plumped for B-sides including ‘Worcestershire Madman’ and ‘Guess The Baby’s Weight’.

Young Knives also played new material set for their forthcoming third album, including ‘Everything Falls Into Place’.

“I haven’t been out of the house for a while, this is quite exciting,” frontman Henry Dartnell told the crowd at the beginning of the set. He then jokingly described Transgressive as “a hit-and-miss record label who have quite a few good bands”.

Later in the set Dartnell‘s bassist brother The House Of Lords joked about the club night that was following their gig at the venue.

“Who’s staying?” he asked the crowd. “They’re having Porn Idol here afterwards.”

Foals headline the venue tonight (September 25) for another Transgressive birthday show.
