ZZ Top cancel tour due to bass player’s tourbus accident

The rockers were on the road with Jeff Beck when Dusty Hill fell onto his hip

ZZ Top have had to cancel the remaining dates on their current tour with Jeff Beck after bass player Dusty Hill fell on the band’s tourbus.

Rolling Stone reports that Hill slipped on the bus and fell on his hip, requiring medical treatment. The band have had to opt out of the last four US shows on the tour.

Beck released a statement which read: “While we are very disappointed to not continue this tour with ZZ Top, our thoughts and best wishes are for Dusty to have a speedy recovery.”

Meanwhile, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top confirmed that he recently recorded an album’s worth of material with David Guetta. The unlikely duo met up earlier this year for a recording session in Ibiza and laid down ten completed tracks with Gibbons telling Billboard that he expects the results to be heard by fans in the near future.

Discussing what went on inside the studio, Gibbons said: “I wanted to know how they did certain things, and of course they were badgering me to bring the guitar to the forefront. They said, ‘Y’know, the only thing missing in dance music is a good guitar player.’ I said, ‘Let’s see if we can bring the two together and make it shake.'”
