My Bloody Valentine are set to mimic Radiohead by self-releasing their forthcoming brand new album on the internet.
However, the shoegazing comeback kings are unlikely to also ape the band's ‘In Rainbows’ release by enabling fans to pay what they want.
My Bloody Valentine’s manager, Vinita Joshi, confirmed the release, saying: "At the moment, all I can say is that Kevin [Shields, singer/guitarist] is getting the band back together and they will go into the studio next month to work on the new record.
“The plan is that they will release the album themselves via the internet, but there will also probably be a vinyl release."
As previously reported, My Bloody Valentine's new album is set to comprise new material as well as unreleased songs recorded in 1996-97 and 1993-94.
The reunited band are set to play seven sold-out UK dates next summer, beginning at London’s Roundhouse on June 20.
Speaking to Billboard, Joshi also refuted rumours that the band are to play the US festival Coachella, saying: “If the band had been booked to play any summer festivals, I'd know about it. We'll see how the summer shows go first."
The sold-out UK shows are at:
London Camden Roundhouse (June 20, 21, 22, 23)
Manchester Apollo (28, 29)
Glasgow Barrowland (July 2, 3)
