My Bloody Valentine, Hot Chip, Babyshambles storm Benicassim Festival

British bands triumph in sunny Spain

My Bloody Valentine, Hot Chip, Babyshambles storm Benicassim Festival
My Bloody Valentine, Hot Chip and Babyshambles were among the highlights of the first full day of Spain's Benicassim Festival (July 18).

Pete Doherty's Babyshambles were an early evening highlight on the main stage, the Escenario Verde, kicking off their set with Elvis Presley's 'Heartbreak Hotel' and running through a hit-packed set that included 'Delivery', 'Kilamangiro' and The Libertines' classic 'What Katy Did'.

In the Fiberfib.com tent Hot Chip attracted a huge crowd, with 'Over And Over' and recent Top Ten single 'Ready For The Floor' going down a storm with a huge crowd of sun-drenched punters. Hundreds had to watch outside during the band's set, such was the demand.

Another huge crowd gathered on the Escenario Verde shortly before midnight to see the latest leg on MBV's comeback tour, their first dates in 16 years.

The slightly truncated set stuck to what the band played on their UK dates recently, with the majority being drawn from their classic 1991 album 'Loveless'.

My Bloody Valentine played:

'Only Shallow'
'When You Sleep'
'(When You Wake) You're Still In A Dream'
'You Never Should'
'Cigarette In Your Bed'
'Come In Alone'
'I Only Said'
'Nothing Much To Lose'
'To Here Knows When'
'Slow'
'Soon'
'Feed Me With Your Kiss'
'You Made Me Realise'
