My Chemical Romance have admitted they were extremely nervous ahead of the release of ‘The Black Parade’ – because they thought they had left it too long.

The band took over two years since to record the follow-up to their second LP ‘Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge’, and the group feared they’d be forgotten men.

Guitarist Ray Toro told Rock Radio the band spent so much time working in seclusion that they began to worry their fanbase had moved on.

"There were actually times where I thought, ‘Do people even remember us? Are people gonna be interested in hearing what we put out next?’," he said.

"And, you know, there were times I felt like, ‘Are there going to be people out there waiting for this record?’. So we kind of live in a bubble, in a sense. We're very closed off to that whole world of thinking about those kinds of things."

However the band's fears did not come to pass with 'The Black Parade' proving a worldwide hit, even yielding My Chemical Romance their first UK Number One single with 'Welcome To The Black Parade'.
