Injury toll rises after whirlwind hits Italian festival
Remaining event dates are also axed
Several audience members were hurt after sound towers and girders collapsed. Trees were also uprooted in the surrounding park and a number of vehicles were overturned by the strong winds.
According to Venice Mayor Massimo Cacciari, 19 people were actually admitted to hospital but only one suffered serious fractures. No-one was fatally injured.
Organiser Roberto De Luca has also confirmed that the damage caused by the whirlwind has resulted in the axing of remainder of the festival, which was expected to feature Aerosmith, The Smashing Pumpkins, Incubus and Juliette & The Licks.
Last night's concert was due to feature the likes of My Chemical Romance, The Killers, Linkin Park and headliners Pearl Jam.
The gig would have been Pearl Jam's only Italian date on their current tour.
