Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has spoken about his lifestyle following the band's split, saying that he's found a balance between his roles as comic book author, rock star and father.

My Chemical Romance announced their split in March of this year, after which Way posted a huge message to fans that stretched to 1,979 words.

Now, speaking to Rocksound, Way said: "It’s been a long time since I’ve woken up and I can’t wait to play guitar while being a mentally present father. Towards the end of MCR I was just… there… and when I reconcile that with myself, you can’t make up for lost time but you can make the time you have great."

He continued: "One thing I’m thankful for is that I figured out some stuff pretty early. Was I ready to be a dad? No, but I’m great at it. You can’t be two people in your brain, one rock dude and a dad – there’s something in the middle of them, and that’s really what you are and that’s going to make you the best dad – not when you try to be one or the other. I’m still sleeping four hours a night and still grabbing instruments."

On Sunday (July 28), Way shared the lyrics to new song 'Millions' with his Twitter followers. He revealed that he had woken from a dream in which he had published the words on an NME messageboard, but on discovering the messageboard no longer exists, decided to give fans the words to 'Millions' anyway.
