Former My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero has said that he did not know the band were going to split at the time they did.

My Chemical Romance officially split in March of this year, with Gerard Way posting a 2000 word explanation about the decision. Opening up in a new interview with Kerrang, Iero admits that while he wasn't oblivious to the fact the band may not have had a long term future, he wasn't aware that an announcement about the split was going to be made.

"It was a long time coming. But I didn't foresee it happening at that moment," he says. "The announcement and what happened. It was done for the right reasons. I just wish the timing was a bit different."

Discussing his feelings on the end of the band and his life after the split, Iero continues: "It was sad. But at the same time, it felt like I could breathe a little bit. It was a very strange feeling. To see a large chapter of your life close, it's a strange feeling. I don't think we ever had the chance to take a step back and appreciate everything we were doing as we were doing it, though. Now we've all had the time to do that. And that's been really cool."

Frontman Gerard Way recently uploaded lyrics to a new solo song of his own after claiming that he dreamed he posted the words on an NME forum. Waking up to discover the forum no longer exists, he placed the lyrics to 'Millions' on his blog and shared them with his fans.
