My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way has signed a solo record deal, he has revealed.

The frontman has launched his own official website, Gerardway.com, with a blog post confirming that he has inked a deal with Warner Bros Records and that he is close to finishing a solo album.

"I am continuing full-steam into comics, art, and more importantly to some of you – music," he wrote. "I am pleased to let you know I am now signed as a solo artist to Warner Bros Records. My album is near completion, and you should expect to hear things in the near future, even today actually – with a brief snippet of what is to come. I am excited. It's starting again."

Way's former band, My Chemical Romance, announced their split in 2013 and subsequently released the greatest hits compilation, 'May Death Never Stop You'. Speaking at the time of the split, Way said: "My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you. I always knew that, and I think you did too. Because it is not a band – it is an idea."

The band released four studio albums, starting with 2002's debut 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love'. Their second LP, 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge', followed in 2004 while follow-up 'The Black Parade' was released in 2006 before the release of 'Danger Days...' three years ago.
