My Morning Jacket's Jim James gives props at Coachella

My Morning Jacket gave major props to Portishead last night (April 27) at Coachella with front man Jim James comparing the reunited act to a "horrifying funhouse of demons".

The band took to the stage at 7pm as the sun set over the Coachella Valley, and ripped through a set featuring many tracks from their forthcoming 'Evil Urges' album as well as some old favourites.

"It's such an honour to be back here," James said to the crowd. "On a personal level I'm so happy see Portishead back in action and I'm sure you are too. Whenever I listen to Portishead I feel like I'm trapped in a horrifying funhouse and demons are trying to get me and squeeze my heart."

Opening with 'One Big Holiday' the Louisville band thrilled the crowd with renditions of 'Wordless Chorus' and 'Off The Record' concentrating mainly on new tracks from their upcoming release for the remainder of the set.

The band completed their set sitting on the stage floor and wordlessly left the stage immediately after playing.

MMJ are such a fantastic band, I can't wait to see them over here in June.
