Mystery Jets get spooky in Liverpool Mystery Jets Tickets

The Eel Pie outfit also pay tribute to Star Wars

Mystery Jets played a Halloween Horror Ball as part of Liverpool Music Week last night (October 31).

Arriving on stage dressed in sparkly tops, with drummer, Kapil Trivedi, sporting a stormtrooper helmet, they launched into opener 'Hideaway'.

Receiving loud cheers for recent singles 'Two Doors Down' and 'Young Love', they played a 40-minute set which drew heavily from their second album 'Twenty One' - 'Diamonds In The Dark' was the only song that featured from the band's debut 'Making Dens'.

The concert, which was part of the Bestival Reunion Tour, saw gig-goers invited to come in fancy dress, of which the majority did, with The Joker from the latest Batman film, 'The Dark Knight', being the most popular choice.

Later, The Presets played a late-night aftershow set, ripping through a dance-fuelled 45 minutes that saw the crowd erupt on 'Are You The One?'.

Opening with latest single 'Talk Like That', the Australian dance outfit then went on to play highlights from recent album 'Apocalypso', as well as a few from 2005's 'Beams'.

Earlier, The Cuban Brothers amused the crowd with their eccentric antics, which included impressive break-dancing, spandex and banter about sprinkling ketamine on Halloween treats.

The night before (October 30), Vampire Weekend thrilled a sold-out crowd at the Carling Academy while The Fall played a riotous set at Nation, which saw Mark E Smith throw a microphone stand into the audience and unplug his guitarist's amp for five minutes.

Liverpool Music Week continues tonight (November 1) with Black Kids and Ladyhawke playing Nation, while Florence And The Machine are set to perform at Korova.

This year's music event is being held in conjunction with the MTV Europe Music Awards, which takes place at the city's Echo Arena on Thursday (November 6).

Other acts set to perform this week in Liverpool include Dizzee Rascal, Johnny Foreigner and Wiley.
