Kai Fish has announced that he has quit Mystery Jets.

The bassist, who released his debut solo album 'Life In Monochrome' last year, told NME that he had first been tempted to leave the band during recording sessions for their new album 'Radlands', which took place in Austin, Texas.

Speaking in the new issue of the magazine, he said:

It was probably the hardest thing I've ever done. I sat down with the guys and said, 'I'm finding being in the band really hard, but I'll try my best to carry on.' And I did, but feelings just don't go away…

Fish - who also confirmed he would be seeking out new projects but was unlikely to release another LP under his own moniker in the immediate future - made his decision to quit the group official when they returned to the UK, meaning 'Radlands' will be his last LP with the band. Mystery Jets, meanwhile, have drafted in new bassist Peter Cochrane and pedal steel player Matt Park to fill his shoes.

To read an exclusive interview with the Mystery Jets, in which Kai and his former bandmates discuss his reasons for leaving, their plans for the future and the making of 'Radlands', pick up the latest issue of NME, which is on UK newsstands and available digitally tomorrow (April 4).
