Police have seized a video of the alleged sexual assault involving rapper MYSTIKAL, it has emerged.

Mystikal's lawyers have told the media that the rapper is innocent of charges of rape and extortion, after he was arrested following a complaint by the his hair stylist. The incident is alleged to have happened at Mystikal's home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on July 3. Two other men, Leland Ellis and Vercy Carter, have also been implicated.

Police have now revealed that a video tape showing the alleged assault has been taken from a safe in the rapper's home. A spokesperson for Baton Rouge Police Department said that the tape, which has been placed into evidence, allegedly shows Mystikal - real name Michael Tyler - and the two other men threatening the hair stylist and forcing her to have sex with them.

The woman alleges that the assault happened after Mystikal confronted her and claimed she had been cashing unauthorised cheques. The rapper is then alleged to have demanded sex from the woman, before calling Ellis and Carter over to his house. The men allegedly told the woman they would report her over the cheques unless she had sex with them. The alleged assaults were then filmed on video camera, it is claimed.

Mystikal's lawyer issued a statement reading: "I am extremely confident that [Mystikal] will be exonerated of all charges that are currently pending against him." He added that all of the rapper's scheduled appearances for July and August would go ahead as planned.

Mystikal was released on Thursday (July 18) on a $250,000 bond. If convicted of rape, he would face a mandatory life sentence. Extortion carries a prison term of one to 15 years. Bond has not been set for Ellis or Carter.
