Rapper could face six months in prison if found guilty

Former N-Dubz singer Dappy hugged fans outside Guildford Magistrates Court yesterday after appearing at the stand following claims he was involved in a fight at a petrol station, the BBC reports.

The rapper wore a white shirt and black tie and spoke only to confirm his name and address.

Last month Dappy, real name is Costadinos Contostavlos, was charged for affray along with fellow defendants Kalonji Stewart, Kieran Vassell and Alfred Miller.

If convicted, Dappy faces a fine of up to £5,000 and potentially up to six months in prison. He has since protested his innocence in several tweets and has branded his accusers as "a bunch of liars".

The incident took place on February 28 at 3.30am. Dappy and one of the other defendants allegedly got out of their car and approached a group of two girls and three men and asked the women to join them in their car.

When the pair's request was refused, one of them allegedly spat at the women. At this point, another group of up to six men in two cars arrived, leading to a full-scale brawl in which the three men who were with the women were assaulted and received serious facial injuries.

Dappy is currently readying his debut solo album 'Dare To Dream', which will be released later this year. He tours the UK in September.
