A witness who testified in the trial of former N-Dubz rapper Dappy has spoken about receiving online abuse from his fans.

Dappy was found guilty of affray and one charge of assault following a trail which concluded earlier this month. The charges related to an incident in 2012 in which the rapper was alleged to have started a brawl at a garage in Guildford following an argument with two girls, Serena Burton and Grace Cochran. Burton has now revealed that she received online threats from fans of Dappy via Twitter. Appearing on ITV breakfast show Daybreak yesterday (January 22) Serena Burton recalled the messages she received, including: "Ha ha – hope you and your mate die a horrible death."

Burton said: "We have had some horrific messages sent to us and in some ways it was unfair. All we did was witness to help those young boys, it's not a nice thing. It's upsetting but me and Grace try to ignore it. It's not a nice thing to go through."

Dappy has made efforts to calm his fans down, posting a tweet telling them to "move on" which reads: "Guys, the girls have had their 15 minutes. Nothing to be gained by sending hate to them. Just ignore and let's move on."

Though found guilty of assault and affray, Dappy was found not guilty of two counts of common assault which related to allegations that he spat at Burton and Cochran. A sentencing verdict has yet to be revealed by the judge.
