*NSYNC's much-touted production of 'GREASE 3' may have to be ditched, after the because the company which owns the rights to the 'GREASE' name have said they will not give permission to use the name.

John Travolta, who starred in the original 'Grease', tells US website www.tvguide.com that, if *NSYNC do go ahead with a film, it cannot be 'Grease': "It won't be 'Grease 3," he explained. "I was told Paramount owns the 'Grease' name and they're not doing that."

Paramount backed up Travolta's comments, with a studio representative saying, " We're not doing 'Grease 3'."

The news will be a blow to *N Sync's Lance Bass, who recently said: 'We're definitely going to do one. Everything just got put on hold because of the SAD strike ,an industrial dispute involving US actors, which is just very bad timing for us, but we're going ahead and getting the script written."
