Natalie Cole undergoes kidney transplant surgery in Los Angeles

The singer postpones summer tour

Natalie Cole underwent kidney transplant surgery in Los Angeles yesterday (May 19).

The singer had been receiving kidney dialysis three times a week since September while she was touring the world supporting her most recent album 'Still Unforgettable'.

The kidney came from a deceased organ donor through a regional organ procurement agency, and the surgery took place at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

According to a statement, Cole is now "resting comfortably" and recovering from the surgery. She has postponed her summer tour dates for the next three to four months as advised by her physicians.

Further information about the rescheduled dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
