NELLY is to launch a bone marrow donation, awareness and recruitment campaign to help his sister - a leukaemia sufferer - find a donor.

The rapper hopes that the 'Jes Us 4 Jackie' US-wide donor drive on June 21 will educate the pubic about donating bone marrow, and help his 29-year-old sister Jackie Donahue.

Grammy award winner Nelly, born Cornell Haynes and Donahue, have enlisted the help of other celebrities, and though names have not yet been released, the rapper's publicist Juliette Harris said that they would be present at nine donor test sites in Los Angeles, New York, and Nelly's hometown of St Louis.

On the day of the event, Nelly's non-profit organisation '4 Sho 4 Kids', will pay the cost of the tests required to join the bone marrow donor registry.

Harris said: "It's a challenge and we have our work cut out for us, but we're confident that we're going to find Jackie a donor and also educate people about the diseases and the process" for gathering stem cells and bone marrow."
