Super Furry Animals' Gruff Rhys: 'Saxophones are vomit-inducing'

Super Furry Animals and Neon Neon frontman Gruff Rhys has said that he hates the saxophone – despite the instrument having a bit of a revival in 2008.

The likes of Mystery Jets, The Zutons and Spititualized all use saxophones in recent material, but Rhys has said he finds the sound of it "vomit-inducing".

Speaking to Last.fm's new strand of videos, Presents he said: "I generally dislike the saxophone. I like saxophones if they're just doing basic notes, that’s fine. But saxophone solos I don't enjoy."

He added: "It has that vomit-inducing quality, it's a physical thing."
